What We Collect
When you use IsMyFranchiseGood.com, we may collect:
- Roast inputs: The franchise and profile information you submit for analysis. This is stored to improve our service.
- Account info: When you sign in with an email code, Google, or X/Twitter, we store your email address — and, if you share them, your display name and profile avatar. Every sign-in method verifies your email before an account is created.
- IP addresses: Used only for rate-limiting and abuse prevention. They sit in an expiring counter (pruned after about 7 days) and are never linked to your profile.
- Votes: Accuracy feedback (thumbs up/down) to improve AI quality.
- Analytics: If we run analytics, we only use privacy-friendly tools (e.g. Plausible) that don't use cookies and don't track personal data. Our host and Cloudflare dashboards show us aggregate traffic counts — never individual browsing profiles.
A few services help us run the site: our host, our database, our email provider (for sign-in codes), Cloudflare (bot protection), and an AI provider (OpenRouter) that receives the franchise details you submit to generate your roast.
Signing in with Google or X
When you sign in with Google or X, the provider shares your name, email, and profile picture so we can create your account. That's all we use it for — identity, nothing more.
One heads-up about X: their consent screen mentions reading your posts. That scope is required by X's profile endpoint — we never read, collect, or store your posts. And if you use the same verified email with more than one sign-in method, you'll end up in the same account.
How We Use Your Data
- To generate AI franchise fit analyses
- To improve the accuracy of our AI model
- To send waitlist updates (email only, if you opt in)
- To understand aggregate usage patterns (analytics)
What We Don't Do
- We do NOT sell your personal information
- We do NOT share your data with third-party advertisers
- We do NOT use tracking cookies — the only cookie we set is your sign-in session (required, never used for tracking)
- You don't need an account to try the service — your first roast each day is free. Sign in to keep your roasts — including one you just made anonymously — or roast past the daily limit
Data Retention
Roast data and votes are retained indefinitely to improve our service. You can request deletion of your data by contacting us.
